Systems Engineering (V&V) Technician job - 08009

Under general supervision, the Systems Engineering Technician will support the Systems Engineer with all facets of new product verification. Prior to new product being released to manufacturing pilot build, this individual will conduct verification testing as specified in verification test plans and as directed by the Systems Engineer.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Test and verify new product (i.e., digital, analog, RF and video communication assemblies and systems) per verification test plans, utilizing the principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, and basic mathematics
  • Operate oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, network and spectrum analyzers, signal generators and other radio communications test equipment
  • Perform limited trouble shooting of test equipment when malfunctions occur or test data results indicate a potential test equipment problem (recognizing the difference between test setup problems and actual product failure)
  • Set up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to conduct functional, operational, environmental and life tests on new products to verify compliance with specifications
  • Write basic technical reports and develop charts, graphs and process flow diagrams
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspection, measurement, test and verification results
  • Read and comprehend electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance and capacitance
  • Review and interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers; product managers; quality and purchasing representatives
  • Request assistance from the Systems Engineer as necessary and communicate information to appropriate personnel when required
  • Perform duties in a safe manner and in conjunction with established company policies and safety guidelines

    Education and/or Experience:
  • Associates Degree in electronics with two years of relevant experience; or minimum of four years recent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Required
  • Working knowledge of electronic theory and terminology
  • Recent, hands-on experience and proficiency with operating test equipment and interpreting results
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
  • Detail-oriented, dependable and work well in a team environment/collaborative skills
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary
    Desired, but not required:
  • Past experience in an ISO 9001:2000 registered environment
  • Knowledge of FCC, UL and/or other agency regulations and certification processes

    Language
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions/manuals. To perform this job successfully, the individual requires the ability to write basic technical reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively; logically and clearly present information and respond to questions from others.

    Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and to calculate mathematical expressions such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, area, circumference and volume. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    Reasoning Ability
  • Capable of solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions conveyed in written and oral format.

    Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).

    Other Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship required; employee must be able to work in an environment with information/products covered in DTC’s Technology Control Plan (TCP).
