Overview of IR Cameras

InfraRed cameras provide a unique capability; the ability to “see” in total darkness. The handheld ThermoVision® SCOUT™ quickly and accurately identifies objects by their heat signature. In typical law enforcement applications, the SCOUT provides the ability to detect and apprehend suspects who otherwise might be hidden by foliage or simply the cover of darkness. Additional officer safety is provided by the one handed operation of the SCOUT, leaving the other hand free to hold a weapon.

The SCOUT features InstAlert, a FLIR Systems innovation that lets you tag an objects, such as a person or vehicle, in red for immediate operation attention.

DTC provides two options to enhance performance, DTC’s wireless video links and a Heads Up Display (HUD) manufactured by MicroOptical. The wireless video link can transmit real time video back to a command post or surveillance vehicle. The HUD provides the ability to disable the Scout Display and look through the MicroOptical View Viewer right in front of your eyes.
