Lean Enterprise Director-08805
This position is responsible for the strategic direction and deployment of the company’s Lean programs throughout the enterprise and for establishing and driving greater operational effectiveness via Lean operational excellence methodologies that improve operations and business processes. Key to success in this role is the ability to drive lasting and sustainable results in a fast paced and dynamic environment through the use of strong leadership and influencing skills, creating buy-in at all levels across the business, and rallying management staff and employees behind a common objective.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Solid experience with leading Lean integrated improvement efforts in a manufacturing setting (preferably in the avionics, surveillance, and/or microwave communications products industries).
  • As the Lean Director, lead, facilitate and manage change across the entire organization. Scope, manage and prioritize project objectives with a focus on quality, process efficiency, and productivity. Serve as the Lean technical operational excellence resource to senior management and employees.
  • Work with senior managers and employees across the company to train, communicate, standardize, sustain and facilitate the implementation of Lean Enterprise thinking and principles. Identify training needs/requirements and develop appropriate in-house and/or external programs.
  • Create and implement a business system that accentuates program progress and performance against objectives, and benchmark performance against best in class excellence.
  • Develop and continuously refine the Lean Enterprise implementation plan. Measure and document progress towards meeting Lean objectives. Write and distribute timely status reports updating management on Lean activities.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and long-term improvement opportunities that measurably improve the performance of the entire enterprise.
  • Thorough understanding of MRP, ERP and capacity planning. In-depth understanding of manufacturing plant operations, machine capabilities, product design and linear flow paths.

    Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Production Engineering, Production Management, or an appropriate technical discipline; or a minimum of 5 years (10 years is highly desirable) applicable and related experience in Lean implementation and facilitation in a relevant manufacturing environment; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree in a technical discipline or a MBA is highly desirable.
  • Lean experience within an ISO registered environment.
  • Advanced training in Lean and other improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • A progressive, flexible and team oriented individual with strong results based leadership skills as well as considerable impact and influencing abilities.
  • Tenacity and energy in leading change towards effective and sustainable Lean initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to influence and motivate management and staff, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the company.
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus abilities.
  • Operations/process leadership experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing materials management and quality program processes. Program management experience is highly desirable.
  • Must be thoroughly versed in all aspects of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures used in the design and production of a product.
  • Certification(s) in Lean processes.

    Language Skills

    Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Communication Skills
  • This position requires communication skills necessary to train various levels of personnel and the ability to work across dept groups and be viewed as a cross functional team member
  • Must possess strong problem solving and communication skills.

    Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, inventory software, manufacturing software, order processing systems, project management software, and spreadsheet software. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP based operating systems and Microsoft Office. Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is required.

    Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Other Skills and Abilities
  • US Citizenship required. Employees must be able to work in an environment with information/products covered in DTC’s Technology Control Plan (TCP).
